What this service is — and is not
What we do
We take air samples for mold spores, usually alongside an outdoor control sample so the indoor reading has something to be compared against. The samples go to an independent laboratory and you get a written result.
What we do not do
We are a mold assessment company. We do not test for radon, asbestos, lead, carbon monoxide or general chemical air pollutants, and we will tell you to call a specialist if that is what you need.
Being straight about the boundary matters. A company that offers to test for everything is usually subcontracting most of it, and you will get a better result going directly to whoever specialises in the thing you are worried about.
A number on its own means very little
Mold spores are present in outdoor air everywhere, all the time. So an indoor spore count is not meaningful in isolation — what matters is how it compares with the air outside the same building on the same day.
That comparison is the point of the test. It is also why a result cannot be read as a simple pass or fail, and why we walk you through it rather than emailing a table of numbers and leaving you to interpret it.
Good reasons to sample the air
You can smell it but not see it
A musty smell with no visible growth is the clearest case for sampling, because there is nothing to look at.
You need documentation
For a property transaction, a landlord or tenant question, or an insurance or legal matter where an opinion is not enough.
After remediation
To verify independently that an area was properly cleared once removal work is finished.
And a poor reason: if growth is already visible and you know where the water came from, a sample will usually confirm what you can see. In that situation we would rather you spent the money fixing the moisture.

Air testing questions
How long do results take?
Sampling on site takes about an hour for a typical home. Laboratory results normally come back within a few working days, and we go through them with you.
Is there a safe or normal spore count?
There is no single published number that separates safe from unsafe indoor air, and anyone quoting you one is oversimplifying. Results are read by comparison with the outdoor control and against what was found during the inspection.
Can a test tell me if the air is making my family ill?
No. We assess buildings, not people, and we are not qualified to give medical opinions. A test tells you what was in the samples. Health questions belong with a doctor.
Do you test for anything other than mold?
No. We are a mold assessment company. For radon, asbestos, lead or chemical air testing you want a specialist in that field, and we will say so rather than take the work.
Do I need testing if I can already see mold?
Often not. If growth is visible and the moisture source is understood, testing tends to confirm what you already know. It is more useful when you cannot see the cause.
